Details

The energy requirement of a building is determined by transmission loss, loss due to ventilation, loss due to heat generation and heat distribution as well as by different gains in energy (insulation, waste heat, energy recovery). The transparent surfaces (windows) must be differentiated from the opaque envelope (roof, wall, floor) in regard of the lost „transmission heat“. The opaque loss rate can be influenced by the thickness of the fixed insulation materials. The insulation efficiency of a structural member is defined by its U-value [W/m2K], the loss rate of the opaque envelope is defined by the mean value [U‘].

The contemporary (and future) U-value regulations lead to extremely thick insulations causing high costs for the building; these are not justifiable anymore for economical, but for ecological reasons.

Building envelopes with the Quality label OEKO-PRIORITY® have a mean U-value of the opaque building envelope [U’result.], which guarantees a minimum of the energy requirement for producing the insulation material plus accumulating the lost energy (for whole service life of the building!). Based on individual data for object and climate the contractor in charge of Cellular Glass Engineering SA establishes the ecologically optimal U-value for opaque building envelope.

This service occurs in three steps
  1. Collecting object data by optimising the thickness of insulation (varying U’soll values) by using a special <shifting program> for the opaque building envelope. This process occurs in agreement with the client. A form in order to fill in the object data is available. By using Adobe Acrobat Reader (version 4.x or higher) you can fill it in directly. Afterwards the form can be attached to an email or it can be printed and sent by fax.

  2. Determination of the ecologically optimal U-value resulting from regression of results according to cipher 1). Cellular Glass Engineering SA therefore provides a calculation program cge - leb / online free of charge. This can also be used for general comparisons.

  3. The ecologically optimal U-value for a certain object according to cipher 2) expands into the „shifting program for insulation“ according to cipher 1). The thickness of insulation results for maximal 8 energetically different structural members, which justify the ecological principle quality label OEKO-PRIORITY® of optimisation mentioned above.

The result of optimisation forms the basis for the contractor's tender proposal or realisation proposal, at best with Cellular Glass Engineering SA as part of a joint venture.
